Vinyasa Flow Yoga
Breath-led sequences that build heat and strength, then let it go. Warm up in cat-cow, move through sun salutations and standing shapes, finish with hips and a long savasana.
Explore Vinyasa FlowSaminaro is a Melbourne yoga studio on Exhibition Street running flow, yin and meditation classes in rooms small enough that nobody is ever anonymous here.
Come in, borrow a mat and see whether the room suits you. No contract, no sales pitch at the end, and no expectation that you can touch your toes.
Saminaro started in 2016 in a rented room above a Collins Street cafe with three classes a week. Nine years later we run two practice rooms on Exhibition Street and still cap every class at twelve people. That number is not marketing. It is the point at which a teacher can genuinely see everyone in the room.
We teach the physical side properly, which means alignment cues, props and honest feedback rather than a workout set to ambient music. We also teach the quieter side, because most people who walk through the door are here as much for their nervous system as their hamstrings.
Every teacher holds a 500-hour certification and keeps their own practice running with a mentor.
Trams on Collins and Bourke, Parliament Station a short walk, bike racks out the front.
Pick the pace that suits the week you are having. Most people end up doing both.

Long floor holds of three to five minutes, bolsters doing most of the work and a candlelit room with no music after the opening. It suits anyone who cannot switch off at night.
Explore the slow practiceNone of this is complicated. It is just harder to get right in a room of forty people, which is why we do not run rooms of forty people.
Twelve mats is the ceiling. Hands-on adjustments, individual cues and nobody stuck at the back guessing.
Our instructors study with their own mentors and log at least forty teaching hours a month. Nobody here is coasting.
Blocks, straps, bolsters and blankets are part of the teaching, not a shelf at the back nobody touches.
Casual bookings and class passes suit most people. Memberships freeze once a year and cancel with fourteen days notice.
Two showers, free towel hire and lockers big enough for a work bag. Practise on the way in rather than the way home.
Tell the teacher before class and you get modifications built around your knee, wrist or lower back rather than a vague nod.
Buy when you need one. Passes last twelve months and work across every class type on the timetable.
One class, whenever it suits you.
For anyone coming once or twice a week.
For the people basically living here.
Full breakdown, including slow-practice passes and concession rates, lives on the pricing page.
A snapshot of a typical weekday. Evening flow and yin sessions fill first, so book a day ahead if you can.

Sixty minutes at an unhurried pace, good for a first visit. Sat and Sun mornings.
Six teachers on the roster. Four of them have been at Saminaro for more than three years, which is unusual in this industry.
Owner & Lead Teacher
Trained in Mysore, opened Saminaro in 2016 and still teaches the 6:15am Friday class.
Senior Vinyasa Teacher
Ex-physio, which shows in how he teaches chaturanga and shoulder mechanics.
Yin & Meditation Teacher
Twenty years of sitting practice across the Insight and Zen traditions. Runs the monthly retreat.
I had tried three studios in the city and always felt like a number. Twelve mats changes everything. Tom spotted my collapsed shoulder in week two and actually fixed it over a month.
The evening yin class is the only reason I sleep on Tuesdays. Candles, no music, ninety minutes of actually stopping. I have dragged four colleagues along and all four stayed.
Pricing is fair and there is no hard sell at the end of your first class, which I appreciated after a rough experience elsewhere. It gets busy at 6:15, so book ahead.
Every instructor holds a recognised certification and keeps it current with continuing education each year.
Registered teachers at Level 1 and Level 2.
Advanced teacher training completed by the full team.
Current senior first aid on every teacher on the roster.
Dedicated yin and meditation training for the slow classes.
Two practice rooms, a tea corner and a props wall that gets emptied every single day.
Ring reception during studio hours or send an email. A person answers, not a chatbot, and we will tell you honestly whether a class suits you.
Ask us somethingWeekday evenings fill up quickly, so a quick note ahead of time saves disappointment. Tell us which class and date you want, or simply ask whatever you would rather not ask in front of a room.
Ground floor, entrance between the coffee cart and the bike racks. Buzzer for evening classes after 8pm. Two minutes from Parliament Station and one tram stop from Bourke Street.
